Little Hunter

I had the absolute privilege of shooting this adorable family! They were visiting San Diego all the way from College Station, TX. Little Hunter was just about to turn 1-year old and they asked me to take some family pictures, as well as some birthday pictures for Hunter including a cake smash!!! With a few poses here and there, the main goal of this photo shoot was just to have some fun and get some beautiful in-the-moment shots. And it was perfect. Love and laughter surrounds this family and I’m so blessed that I was allowed to be a part of it, even if for just a moment.

Let’s Get This (Photography) Business Started!

I have been working hard to get my website up-to-date and ready to take on this photography world in my (fairly new) city of San Diego, California. I have added picture slideshows of some of my most favorite shots to all of the pages: about kimberlydawn, editorial and landscape, and portraits. And while you’re in the portrait gallery, be sure to check out the new photography I posted in the infant and child, maternity, and senior galleries. Check back in a few days as I add a family gallery!! There are some great deals in packages and pricing, and I added a new special for model calls as I search for the perfect locations around this beautiful beach city!! So please, come in, browse around and check it out. If you see something you like, leave a comment. If you see someplace where I goofed up, email me. And if you would like to schedule your own portrait session, by all means give me a call!! I have photographer fever and my trigger finger is itching…!!

Plus, I have brand new, never-before-seen photography to share with you in upcoming blog posts! Can you tell I’m super excited??

Fourth of July in San Diego

Have you ever celebrated the Fourth of July in San Diego? It’s amazing! The sun is out, the sand is warm, and at night the fireworks are crackin’…! Wherever you are there is sure to be a great show. This is a shot I took from Crown Point of the fireworks set off by Sea World. What a great show!!

New Photography Coming Soon!!

Good news from Photography by KimberlyDawn! I know it has been SO LONG since I’ve really been able to devote myself to photography. Having a baby changes everything, right? But now I’m ready to dive back in. In the next few weeks I will be updating my portfolio and all galleries in preparation for growing my business. For those that have been here all along, I thank you.

If you are interested in portrait photography, please see my {Specials} page for a model call!

And a picture of my bug, just because…

Newborn, Infant, and Child Photography

Whatever is sweet and pure and innocent in the eyes of a child, let it surround humanity.

Photographing children is challenging and adventurous. They don’t pose on given command, “cheese” produces insincere and forced smiles and is taboo, and it’s rare to find one that can sit still and stare straight into the camera. Maybe this is what makes child photography so incredibly beautiful, in its purest form.

In all the hustle and bustle of a large city that never sleeps, I occasionally miss the quiet solitude found in the country. Not to mention my obsession with old abandoned barns. There is something so peaceful in this…

Just A Street Artist In Central Park

There are all kinds of people in this world. Each with a unique style and persona. Just like this artist I came upon in Central Park, New York.

Cabrillo National Monument

If you’ve never been to Cabrillo National Monument, I strongly suggest you GO! Located on the end of Point Loma, San Diego you can’t beat the view. Turning 360 degrees, visitors have sights of Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, the Cabrillo tidepools, Coronado Island, downtown San Diego, and even Mexico. And, during the right time of the year, you might also catch sight of a whale!! Not only that, Cabrillo National Monument has some amazing history. So GO. Take in the sights, get your feet wet in the tidepools (just don’t pick up or touch any of the local inhabitants), and climb up in the lighthouse.

It’s probably my most favorite place ever…
